In order to be
considered as a third year student at Abundant Life Christian Academy, a
student must have completed sixty (60) hours of college credit or its
equivalent.
Materials for each
course in this program are audio (cassette tapes or CD) lectures, textbooks,
workbooks or actual classroom lectures.
The student is required to listen to the audio lectures, or to read the
textbook and then answer the questions prepared by Ab.L.CA for the audio
lectures, textbook or classroom lecture.
This process may require listening to the audio lectures, reading the
textbook several times or taking good notes in classroom setting. The student is then required to prepare an
outline from each audio lesson, each chapter in the textbook or classroom
discussion. Also, the student is
required to type a five paragraph Essay describing three thing that he or she
learned from the course. In addition,
the student is required to read an ADDITIONAL book that is related to
the subject matter being taught and to prepare a three (3) page book report.
For courses using workbooks, the
student is required to complete the workbook and to write a summary of the
theme of the book(s) of the Bible that is/are used in the workbook. All outlines, essays, and summaries are to be
prepared as per the required format provided in the appendix of this catalog.
For each course in the Bachelor’s Program, the course tests will comprise 60%, the outlines will comprise 10%, the essay will comprise 10%, and the book report will comprise 20% of the course grade. For the Bible courses using workbooks, the test will comprise 70% of the grade and the summary will comprise 30% of the course grade as there is no outline nor book report. For General Study courses, the test will comprise 100% of the grade.
Note: A student cannot begin studies in a new course unless all requirements for the previous course have been completed and submitted.
In addition to the above-prescribed course of study, all bachelor level degrees (except Bachelor of Ministry and Bachelor of Biblical Studies) require a Thesis, in Modern Language Association (MLA) form, consisting of five (5) outside sources. The Thesis is to have a minimum of thirty five and a maximum of fifty (50) typewritten double-spaced pages. The topic for the thesis MUST be preapproved by the Academic Dean of Abundant Life Christian Academy.
